What are gastrointestinal and digestive disorders?
Gastrointestinal (GI) disorders affect a dog's stomach and intestines, leading to pain and other issues. By definition, a digestive disorder is one which reduces the digestion or absorption of food or its passage through the digestive tract is altered.
It is essential to your dog’s health and well-being to have proper digestion in order to absorb the nutrients from food, needed for daily functioning. Digestive issues can lead to many health problems including dehydration, electrolyte imbalances and malnutrition.
Symptoms include:

Quite often digestive disorders clear up within a few days, however regular or permanent management may be needed under veterinary supervision.
Dog food has an enormous impact on GI tract health. It is important to feed your dog a high-meat diet. Avoid foods with grains, corn, wheat, artificial colours, artificial flavours, GMO’s (Genetically Modified Ingredients) and cheap fillers. It is also important to always have fresh water available for adequate hydration.
Because several of these gastrointestinal conditions may be ongoing, long-term nutritional management of the disorder may be required.
